If you look for the meaning of the word
'mindscaping' in any dictionary, you may not find the word itself! But I have
been thinking about this 'nonexistent' word for the past few years.
I am sure your would have come across the word
'landscaping'. The dictionary meaning of this word is to improve the aesthetic appearance of a piece of land by changing its
contours, adding ornamental features, or plating trees and shrubs. We say
that the land has been tastefully landscaped. We also call it by a simpler word
'gardening'.
So, we take a piece of land as it is and alter some
features using our knowledge of aesthetics, horticulture and creativity to make
the same land more attractive and appealing to the eyes.
Apply the same to our mind! Are not our actions a true reflection of our
mind? If we naturally exhibit our mind and behave exactly what our mind tells
us, will it be acceptable to the society outside us?
In this series of small articles I will try to
explore how we can 'mindscape' our mind to make it more appealing and
aesthetically attractive!
