365 Exciting Ways to Live : Excitement # 39 - Practise a Disciplined Schedule

Practise a Disciplined Schedule.
For every disciplined effort there is a multiple reward.
– Jim Rohn

Success is a result of systematic application of efforts in a disciplined way. We need to be organised to handle difficult projects tactfully and smartly. More work need not require more time. More work means more planning and systematic scheduling of activities so that we can accomplish more work in less time.
We need to have a daily, weekly and monthly menu like:
·         Daily jogging for 20 minutes.
·         Daily reading for 1 hour.
·         Daily meditating for 30 minutes.
·         Weekly cleaning of the kitchen.
·         Weekly once visiting our parents.
·         Weekly once visiting our place of worship.
·         Monthly balancing of our bank account.
·         Monthly checking of our weight.
·         Monthly evaluation of our projects on hand.
We can also have a yearly calendar like renewing our insurance policy and filing our tax return. The idea may appear to be simple, but it calls for a high mental discipline, especially the daily and the weekly.

Today, why don’t you start by identifying one item in each of the above category and try it out? Over the next few months, you can get even more organised!

365 Exiting ways to live

5 / 365 Fixed Time Appointments

Time flies. It’s up to you to be the navigator.
Robert Orben

‘Fixed time appointment’ is a very simple but powerful idea, which should be practiced on a daily basis. We are familiar with the time table habit which we followed when we were in school. The school authorities ensured that we followed a specific schedule everyday, which helped us to read many subjects simultaneously. But many of us do not follow this simple but powerful tool after our school days. Successful people still have a weekly and daily schedule and follow fixed time appointments.

Choose not more than three daily activities that you have to do and fix a time for the same. For example: coffee at 6 a.m.; reading newspaper at 7 a.m; lunch at 1 p.m and dinner at 8 p.m. Try practicing the time discipline for these activities for the next 21 days. If you find it difficult, may be you can reduce the number to not more than two or three. Over a period of time, you will be able to bring many activities in to this time discipline. By this simple method, you will fall into a self discipline.

Start this from today!
