365 Exciting Ways to Live : Excitement # 39 - Practise a Disciplined Schedule

Practise a Disciplined Schedule.
For every disciplined effort there is a multiple reward.
– Jim Rohn

Success is a result of systematic application of efforts in a disciplined way. We need to be organised to handle difficult projects tactfully and smartly. More work need not require more time. More work means more planning and systematic scheduling of activities so that we can accomplish more work in less time.
We need to have a daily, weekly and monthly menu like:
·         Daily jogging for 20 minutes.
·         Daily reading for 1 hour.
·         Daily meditating for 30 minutes.
·         Weekly cleaning of the kitchen.
·         Weekly once visiting our parents.
·         Weekly once visiting our place of worship.
·         Monthly balancing of our bank account.
·         Monthly checking of our weight.
·         Monthly evaluation of our projects on hand.
We can also have a yearly calendar like renewing our insurance policy and filing our tax return. The idea may appear to be simple, but it calls for a high mental discipline, especially the daily and the weekly.

Today, why don’t you start by identifying one item in each of the above category and try it out? Over the next few months, you can get even more organised!

Daily Discipline

The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine.
Mike Murdock

In a long journey, every step is important. This principle is very much true in our life that every day is important. For each day, we should have a specific outcome in mind. The best way to do this is to have a to-do list. We should have not more than three to five carefully selected activities listed for the day. Too many things in the to-do list will frighten us; too few things will make the day not busy enough. You can have specific categories of things to do. For example: to do things; to telephone people; to send e-mails; to send sms to people, etc.

It’s not merely having a to-do list. What is even more important is executing what is planned for the day. At the end of the day, we should not go to sleep unless we have done all that we have listed for the day. Do it for 21 days continuously and this practice will become a habit. That is why I recommend that you have not more than three to five easy to do things to start with.
Do this to day!
